Below are all the parts we make and sell for safety fenders. We also build the complete part PCC, HB, M&MTB and Eclipse Life guard style. We ship ground directly to your located. Safety fenders aka people catchers are the most labor intensive and difficult items to create.  We are happy to supply the following types of Safety Fenders (safety gates).

1. Eclipse, large basket in front with rubber roller and bumper chain posts.  A separate screen referred to as a Mustache sits above the basket and protects the headlight.

2. Eclipse Fender Johnstown.  This safety fender is lighter in weight and does not come with the Mustache  The support chains are unique sash type chains.

3. Under Floor Safety Fenders. We produce 3 types, the most common on older wood cars were frequently type HB.  On single truck cars they hung off of the spring plank and pivoted on a 1″ steel bar.  A trip assembly contains a variety of castings designed to drop the basket onto the street and activate it by a gate which comes in contact with the people after being hit by the trolley car.  These baskets fit the more modern cars like PCC, steel cars with some wood like a double truck Birney and all Single Truck Cars.  The only other major difference in the underfloor baskets are the brackets which support the pivot points and weather they attach into steel or wood. 

People interested in safety fenders should place orders in the spring or the fall.  We only produce these twice a year.
